The recent crisis of the Middle East in Yemen has become a new arena for the clash of interests of various regional and global players. The attacks launched by the Houthis have targeted the main shipping routes of the Red Sea, which is the most important waterway connecting Europe to Asia and East Africa. American merchant ships were also the direct targets of the attacks, which is why the USA and other major states became directly involved in the crisis. On October 17-18, 2023, the third "Belt and Road" summit of international cooperation was held in Beijing, which was attended by leaders of more than 2 dozen countries, high-ranking delegates from more than 130 countries. In various analyzes published in previous years, the "Luys" Foundation referred to the possibilities of the Republic of Armenia's participation in the Chinese "Belt and Road" initiative, generally encouraging Armenia's more active participation and initiative in this Chinese mega-project. Unfortunately, in the previous years, the current government of Armenia not only did not record any significant progress in relations with China, but also because of its strange foreign policy, Armenia was even more immersed in the trap of the intensifying East-West confrontation.

Within the framework of this analysis, we tried to understand what the Chinese "Belt and Road" project looks like today, 10 years after it was put forward by President Xi Jinping, what are the achievements and prospects of the project. At the same time, we analyzed the level of involvement of the countries of the region in the project, and also tried to understand what is the logic of the policy of the RA authorities in this direction. As a result, we came to the conclusion that both the disproportionate interest in the important Belt and Road Initiative and the inadequate foreign policy towards such a superpower as China are not simply the result of foreign policy miscalculations and missed opportunities, but a reflection of a very concrete geopolitical choice of the Armenian authorities. Full material is only available in Armenian.

The budget of Yerevan sets the priorities of the economy of the city for the upcoming year. In the budget the planned level of revenues, as well as its structure is presented. In addition, the planned level of expenditures and its distribution by functional and economic classifications are determined. The forecasting of revenues and expenditures is followed by the planning of the budget deficit and the sources of financing it. The objective of the present analysis is to assess the execution of the state budget of the RA in the given period. First, we describe the general state of the economy of the RA, namely the driving forces of economic activity, the developments in individual sectors of the economy, the behavior of the components of the demand – consumption and investment – and so on. Afterwards, we analyze the performance of government revenues and expenditures by comparing the actual and planned values of the respective indicators.
