International peacekeeping activities under the conditions of the new world order formation: The cases of East Timor, Kosovo and Nagorno-Karabakh

Over the past decades, significant progress has been made in international law towards the formation of the instruments of the UN peacekeeping mission and the legal basis for addressing self-determination conflicts. This has enabled to prevent a number of impending wars and to settle several conflicts. The academic circles have developed various models to identify the reasons why the UN Security Council decided to intervene in those cases. Nevertheless, not all the factors influencing the SC decisions have been fully explored. The article examines the impact of one of these factors, i.e. geopolitical transformations, on the implementation of the UN peacekeeping missions, for the purpose of settling self-determination disputes. It is proposed to consider it on the basis of the three-stage model of the struggle for a new world order. For each of these stages, the article presents the possibilities of the implementation of the UN peacekeeping mission, its obstacles and the ways to overcome them, drawing on the cases of East Timor, Kosovo and Nagorno-Karabakh. These cases ideally match in terms of the parameters of self-determination conflicts, thereby providing for high reliability of the conclusions. The study reveals that the dynamics of geopolitical transformations creates serious obstacles for international peacekeeping, in particular at their final stage regarding the acute conflicts of interests of the permanent members of the UN SC. Full material is only available in Armenian․

The Republic of Artsakh as an unrecognized state and the ban on the use of force against it

The article shows that regardless of the legal basis for the creation of its statehood, the Republic of Artsakh is an independent state, as it meets all the criteria of statehood required by international law. The fact that until now the Republic of Artsakh remains an unrecognized entity does not in any way question its independent statehood. As a state, the Republic of Artsakh is under the protection of international law, which especially refers to the prohibition of the use of force against it. Full material is only available in Armenian.

Possible changes in Turkey's foreign and regional policy after crucial elections

The upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections in Turkey are fatal. perhaps the most important since 2003, when Erdogan's party took power in Turkey. Taking into account Turkey's key role both in the Greater Middle East and in international relations in general, the upcoming elections are of great interest both at the regional and global level.

Although it is difficult to predict tangible strategic revisions of foreign policy and national programs given Turkey's state system traditions, it is very important to understand what kind of tactical changes Turkey's foreign and regional policy will undergo depending on the election results. We tried to study that question within the framework of this analysis, based on the approaches and plans already expressed by the two main candidates. Full material is only available in Armenian.

The unrealized potential and prospects of Armenia-India cooperation in the military-political and economic spheres

The foreign political and security toolkit, which in recent decades, particularly before the 44-day war, enabled Armenia and Artsakh to ensure relatively stable and peaceful development, has lost its relevance and needs a significant revision. First of all, we are talking about such diversification of the foreign political and security agenda, which, on the one hand, will not disrupt the strong and reliable cooperation with traditional allies formed over decades, and on the other hand, will enable to complement them by forming effective cooperation formats with other actors.

Both strong historical and cultural ties, as well as modern geopolitical interests and regional priorities create real opportunities for raising Armenian-Indian relations to a new level of development. The deepening of relations with India, in contrast to a number of other possible directions of diversification of foreign and security policy, not only does not contradict the interests of Armenia's main military and political partners in the region, but can also contribute to the establishment of new multilateral cooperation platforms with them. Within the framework of this analysis, we have tried to identify the realistic potential for the development of Armenian-Indian relations in the military-political and economic spheres, taking into account the current geopolitical realities. Full material is only available in Armenian.

Armenian lobbying organizations operating in the USA. Priorities and differences

Since the independence of Armenia, the Armenian diasporain the United States has made great efforts to support the newly independent Armenia. It is due to the efforts of the Armenian-American community that the U.S. government provided large amount of assistance to Armenia from the very early years of independence, making it one of the leading countries in terms of per capita assistance among the countries of the former USSR. The Armenian community in the USA is committed to providing continued support to Armenia up to this day. Nevertheless, the activities of Armenian lobbying organizations and the Armenian community in the USA do not always fully coincide with the priorities and interests of the Armenian authorities. In some cases, the interests and priorities of both sides directly contradict each other. The aim of this article is to study the overlapping and conflicting priorities of the Armenian government and the Armenian organizations in the U.S. since the independence of the Republic of Armenia, the reasons of this contradicting interests and the implementation of pro-Armenian activities by the Armenian community in the USAFull material is only available in Armenian.
